Not in any loading book I have ever used. He is saying powder where he should be saying bullets. 55 grain bullet and 180 grain bullet.

thanks for the correction - ill get that changed now, always thought of it as grains of powder but what yous aid makes sense

Yea. Grain refers to the weight of the projectile.

And at this part I would say use a picture of a SA hunting riffle not a bolt action.

Interesting read PPC, and well written...just correct that "grains" issue and remember when discussing a projectiles grains, your talking about it's weight...not the amount of powder pushing it.

...and don't feel bad...a few years back I posted a thread titled "What is a grain?" because while I understood it was a measure of weight, I was unfamiliar with the terminology.

I could attempt to explain it but C3 did a much better job of it and will probably be back shortly to elaborate.

I'm glad you cleared that up for me - Not sure why I thougth it referred to grains of powder... always good to learn something new and realize you knew less today than you thought you did yesterday =)
