I wonder if NJ will require evil HP detectors for the smart guns considering evil HPs are illegal there?

1000th post of mine, JonM said you get a gift when you hit 1000. Anyone know what it is? Ammo I hope.

I have a toy Yoda. What's it worth, do you think?

Seriously, though, could this technology one day be made wireless and - if so - could the Government turn off the guns belonging to "X"? Or require the presence of a government-issue chip in order to make the firearm functional?

Maybe it seems like tin foil stuff at first, but I don't doubt that universal gun registration and such wireless technology would one day combine along those lines.

It is best if government maintains a healthy respect for an independent, armed citizenry. I don't see how this German technology improves or promotes such a relationship.

Absolutely foreseeable. It is more likely that they would declare a state of emergency and turn off all civilian firearms. They already have the ability to disrupt cellular service.

The ability to disrupt our vehicles is coming soon too. Just look at all these cars like the google car that can drive themselves. You better believe the government is going to mandate shut off switches for LEOs to use.

No computer or chip put in a firearm will ever be as smart as a human operating it. Not many people misuse firearms, why not punish those who do instead of trying to make the rest of us more unsafe.

No to mention, I bet these "smart guns" will also have tracking capabilities built in.

Yes, or enable it. Those "google cars" will also be able to be driven remotely. They don't say that, but if the thing can drive itself it definitely can be controlled remotely. Scary stuff.

Smart guns is an oxymoron isnt it, kinda like smart ass? Neither exists for real and if it did, it wouldnt need a human attached to it to be effective! I think the Germans are awesome when it comes to mechanical and electronic Wow Factor but this is a product without a real calling for those that truly depend on Firearms as a tool for Self Defense. The guy pulling his pistol out of the vault would have been dead long before he was prepared to defend. Laws that mandate this type of mandatory waiting period (40 to 50 seconds) fail to recognize that anyone you may need to defend yourself from is prepared to shoot nearly instantly.

We have the right to Self Defense in this country, they know that trying to straight up rescind that would be dead on arrival but creating roadblocks to actually acting in SD is less easy to fight against when they say its for our own good and its not an out an out denial of the right!

My guns are plenty smart enough without Batteries, chips or extra mechanisms that have no useful purpose other to prevent them from doing what they were created to do, shoot a desired target when the trigger is pulled!
