Mmmm, I'm guessing "not long". We saw this horsecrap gun on TV the other night. They had a new anchor shooting it. We didn't actually see the story, but my wife thought it was a good idea. I don't. Would wearing that watch not be a beacon to everybody that you're carrying? It's huge, and ugly. If someone home invades you in the middle of the night, are they going to wait while you put the watch on? If they have them for guns, shouldn't they have them for cars first? The questions regarding the stupidity on this is endless, and they are ALL good ones.

No kidding, so the cop pulls you over, see's the watch and now arrests you for printing while CCWing! Theres no end to this other than no guns period. They are using the same techniques that they have used to institute Vehicle Safety Standards. Time is on their side and every little progression in regulation brings with it other benefits they couldnt get by themselves. Couldn't the next watch activated firearm include a transponder or defeat interlock that allows "LEO's" to disable any smart guns within a certain distance of them on command?

It sounds good especially if its for our own good doesnt it? The law of unintended consequences combined with the historically significant fact that criminals arent inherently stupid and they wont follow Canterbury rules ever!!!! Big Surprise, they will use them against us and they do every single day, we dont need to arm them with more weapons than they have already.

I guess I don't understand who it is marketed to? Single women? Stay at home mom with kids in the house? White collar left leaning independant?
2nd thought is that without some sort of funding or grant money, I don't see how a company can stay above water and make a profit on these.

I'd say the only people who'd buy something like this would be someone on the fence about guns, and they consider this to be an appropriate safety thing. And, they're too stupid to think for themselves, and realize what a dumb idea it is. The other group would be people who are mandated by law to buy it. I think the 1st group would be extremely small. And the second group would be pissed...

and what about all the guns already out there not having some smart chip in them?

will they require us to have those retro-fitted with some smart chip as part of being compliant?

I was wondering that. How many non-smart guns are there in NJ? If they eventually can only buy a smart gun, are all the non-smart guns still ok to have? (In which case they'll be worth a FORTUNE!)

Maybe they will just make you wear a big kitchen clock around your neck to go with your non-smart gun. Anybody who looks like Flavor Flave is packin'
