Meanwhile, in Maryland, yeah, Maryland
I know that my state isn't on the forefront of the right of the people to keep and bear arms but what I saw yesterday in Maryland's state capital of Annapolis was encouraging. My estimate of between two and three thousand people showed up at a rally hastily organized by several gun rights groups, headed by Maryland Shall Issue and strongly supported by the National Rifle Association actually inspired a glimmer of hope that my state won't go the way of New York.
Leading with a local liberal news paper article, even they couldn't ignore the thousands of opponents to the governor's proposed gun legislation. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-omalley-guns-20130204,0,6088123,print.story A better article: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/feb/6/gun-rights-advocates-swarm-annapolis-fight-omalley/ Here are some videos I took of the event. I wish I would have had the battery to record everyone, I missed some really great speakers. J |
Fantastic. Hopefully these legislators can see the "writing on the wall" if they support/introduce unconstitutional laws. IMO, some are crawfishing (backing up) already in fear of being voted out.

Reader Elliotte in MD sends the following pic (click to embiggen it) he found at mdshooters.com: “This is a picture of state senator Jamie Raskin (D-Montgomery County) playing chess on his laptop during the hearing. The hearing was split into 8 hours of testimony, 4 hours each for the pro and anti sides divided into alternating 1-hour segements. My guess is this occurred during one of the pro-gun hour-long slots.” It’s good to see the senator so actively engaged in the meaningful conversation about guns we’ve needed in this country for so long http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/02/daniel-zimmerman/incendiary-image-of-the-day-meaningful-conversation-edition/ |
