Vincine- had dealings with the Secret Service when the VP was visiting my Governor (I was Executive Security detail at the time) The rep from SS was an obnoxious SOB, to be as nice as I can. After about 15 minutes of his going WAY over the top, my Lt. leaned over and said "Excuse me- our department has been looking after our Governor since 1618." SS reply- "So what?" My Lt.- "WE haven't lost one yet. How are YOU doing?"

Never knew a man could get that red in the face!

If they can do it for a week they can do it for a year and then do it forever. I hope gun owners in FL fight the hell out of this!
Where in the **** would you conceal a katana?

Just liberal media and politicians making drama out of nothing. Most of it is trumped up to get our attention focused away from what is really going on. If Florida law already prohibits it maybe they should do a story as to why the mayor is wasting more tax payer time on something that already exists. They do it here in md all the time. Get you upset over something small so they can pass a new tax or some kind regulation that will really affect you. If the news reported a law already exist there's no dram thus no story.

The liberal mayor of Tampa has contacted the governor to put a temporary ban on something that state law already permanently bans. The oxymoron of a request, if reported by responsible media should, IMO have pointed out the fact that state law already bans it so what good is a temporary ban going to do????

This is nothing more than the liberal mayor, liberal media and the liberal Florida sheriffs association trying whip a frothing response from the public over law abiding gun toting crazies in down town Tampa during the convention.

My post had nothing to do with responsibilities of the Secret Service, but Tampa has its fair share of hookers. I am sure many of the Service will be pre occupied at best

Yeah, but something that you seem to be missing is the fact that the mayor wants to EXPAND the area. Or, did you miss that part of the article?

What really gets me is this...

"Buckhorn said he simply wants "the ability to control our streets for that week." "

So, why isn't he worried about his city's safety the other 51 weeks of the year?

Buckhorn is an ass, always has been. This is the same kind of stupid BS non-issue he used to stir up when he was on the city council...anything for a headline. The ironic thing is that most of the delegates/politicians who'll be at the convention are probably 2nd Amendment and NRA backers.
