It seems that with every political issue, the republicans and democrats pick a stance on it (usually opposite) and we end up with essentially two huge lumps of viewpoints we are asked to pick from.

Gun control is one of those things there is no grey area about. Republicans support gun ownership, democrats oppose it.

I am a democrat, in almost every aspect... but I feel very strongly against gun control and am a proud NRA member, and handgun owner.

The dilemma facing folks like me is we have to give something up. Do I vote with where I stand on the majority of issues? Or do I stick to a candidate who is in line with one very important issue only? In the end, most people will stick to the party of whom they are in-line with on the MOST issues.

So I will be voting for Obama this year. His choice of VP is a bit troubling though, in so far as gun control issues go.

Anyway - any one else out there in the same boat?
Unlike RL357Mg, there are not two issues separating me and Obama --- I can't think of one where I can agree with him. His economic and social views are Marxist; his views on guns are totalitarian; his views on abortion are homicidal; his views on the military and national security are unacceptabe; and on and on.

He wants to raise taxes on individuals and businesses which will cost American jobs and prosperity; he wants to restrict trade which will cost American jobs and prosperity; he surrounds himself with people like his angy anti-American wife, the so-called "Reverend" Wright, the terrorist William Ayers, the black nationalist Louis Farrakan, and on and on.

He wants to defund the military and eliminate new, modern weapons systems; he wants to eliminate the missile defense system; he wants to raise a vast army of mandatory "volunteers" to go out into every aspect of American life, an army whose ultimately goal is the indoctrinatation of the American people into radical leftist views.

He is a Marxist whose only love is Barack Obama.

So as I said we are separated by more than one or two isses.

Why would God invent a thing like Whiskey? To keep the Irish from ruling the world of course.

Incidentally, I never said that there were two issues that separated me and Obama - I said that there were two issues I wold not compromise on in this election, and actually if a candidate supports gun rights and is pro-life, 99% of the time he will be in line with the other issues as well. So to me, gun rights and abortion are pretty good indicators of a candidates ideology. I certainly don't agree 100% with McCain, but he is correct on the most important issues. Obama is wrong on ALL issues.

Which eludes people for some reason. There is not ONE well thought out plan or idea. He speaks of pie in the sky, but the only pie he's selling is of the "cow" variety.
