A house bill in Olympia, WA, has passed 88 to 4 to allow the USE of silencers in Washington State. Currently, it is legal to own - but NOT to use - a silencer in this state. And this is from a house of reps that are overwelmingly DEMONcrates! Are things changing?

This is most interesting. It will be curious to see if the Governor would actually sign it.

I sincerely hope so as I have a new 1911 that was designed to have a can attached.

I did not know they could not be used in WA. My buddy has several. I wonder where he uses them?

Is there a reason given, for why they cannot be used?

Other than state law? No, not really.

If he has "several" that he has been "using" than presumably he is taking them across the border in a "less than legal fashion" to use them in a free state like Oregon that is pro suppressor, or he takes them out into the woods or deep into private land for use in a "less than legal fashion".

Of course he could be filing for travel documentation for the suppressors and using them after that "approval" process were to take place, but one would assume he would have mentioned it as it's kind of a pain in the rear end.

I don't know that he has been using them, but I know he has an AAC for his .45, another AAC for his M1A and a Surefire for his AR.

Odd that they can be owned, but not used.
