legal definition of magazine?

What is the true legal definition of a magazine, and what exact part is it?
I know that the part that is legally the firearm is the receiver/frame, but what or the magazine?
Is it the body, the spring, the floor plate, the follower, all as one? What is a magazine?

so it that to say that if I have an AKM magazine and I slip off the floor plate, but leave in the follower and spring, then it is no longer a magazine?

For legalese, it's a "feeding" device.

My mouth is a feeding device. Am I not allowed to open my mouth very wide or will it be considered high capacity?

When it comes to section 922r the magazine is actually 3 parts (Body, follower and floor plate). I venture to say, if someone wanted to mae an isue of it, just the body is a magazine.
