It was more than just politicians. There are people who hate the idea that the individual is what matters. To them, society itself is the only thing that matters. We call those people "scum-sucking commie pricks", but some people have some harsh names for them, too.

Yeah, 'til they ban English anyway. Or maybe they'll keep English around and figure out a way to tax us for speaking it.

No disrespect intended, but that makes you part of the problem.

The issue isn't whether or not it affects you personally or directly, but whether the action taken by the government affects others unfairly and establishes precedent for future actions that WILL affect you personally and directly.

Figure out what you believe in, then take a stand for it even if a particular issue doesn't matter to you personally.

Ain't that the truth. It starts with one thing, next thing you know they add something else, then they go after something else. Next thing you know the government is making more on the transaction than the retailer/manufacturer.

That's right. One example that hits most people: gasoline. The Federal government makes more in taxes on each gallon of gas sold than the big, evil oil companies make in profit. So when Exxon talks about record profits and a gaggle of congressvermin step up and call foul, remember that the government itself has made MORE IN TAXES than that record profit.

Yet the government took no risk. They didn't prospect for land, purchase land, establish drills, refineries, storage or distribution methods, and they don't employ the people who do all that work.

And the government still owes China...... How many BILLIONS of Dollars?
Sounds like the Government needs a new Budget plan.
