Default How much ammo can you legally own?

From this article, it appears that a person can be in violation of some law (fed or state??) for having too much ammo. What are the limits on ammo ownership? I had never before heard of this.

I believe it is a state and city based issue.
In ma I think you are limited to 10,000 rnds and 3 lbs of powder.

I don't think there is a limit on ammo for KY, I would imagine maybe a limit on powder??

Safety, storage, cost, and common sense.

Find your own balance.

Some guys buy 2 tags each hunting season,

a bullet for each tag, and never

have a spare round their whole lives.

It's America, and I know I'm not a judge,

because I'm not making enough money...

A person in the US illegally may not lawfully purchase or possess firearms or ammunition. THAT was the Federal law they broke. For lawful residents of the US, there IS no limit. Some municipal fire codes may limit MASS quantities of powder and ammo.
