Congrats on your purchase! Give us a range report when you can.

You probably don't have to do anything. The lower is considered the rifle. If MA is like NY and has an assault-weapon ban still in place, you may need to get a post-ban upper for a post-ban lower. You may also want to check stocks (can they be collapsible or do they have to be fixed?) and magazine capacity limits. Google "gun laws by state" and check out what MA has to say. Or better yet, give a call to an attorney local to you who knows about local gun laws.

You're good to go. I'm in ma also.
Unless the lower is pre-ban your stock must be fixed or pinned.

As far as I know (not sure about your state laws), you won't. The only part of an AR considered a gun, is the receiver. Everything else is just parts.
