I watched it and he said he was in favor of an Assault Weapons ban but Congress would have to act. Same on the mag capacity limits which would have to be part of the legislation. At least that's how I understood it.

If you look at the list of Executive Orders they sound innocuous enough but of course the devil is in the details. The one about who should own guns is the most concerning to me particularly as the AG thinks Mexican cartels would be good responsible gun owners.

I am just glad that there was no mention of ammo limits or background checks every time you buy it. Maybe people will calm down some so I can go shoot.

An AWB and mag limits needs Congressional approval before it can be passed as law. He cant do this alone. He can only futher inact exsisting laws, not make new ones. He might try, but its legally outside of his power and will insite a huge fight for his impeachment IMO.

Since the '94 AWB was already a Law all he'd have to do is reinstate it by E.O. and it'd be Law again. No need to pass a new Law through Congress, just bring the old one back to life.

The mag restriction and AWB are not EO they are his recommendation to congress who will hopefully wipe their a$$ with his recommendation

The 94 awb is gone, history, expired. The President cannot EO a law back into effect, if that's the case then he can reinstate prohibition since it was once law? Not true.

Prohibition of Alcohol was a Constitutional Amendment that then had to be over turned by another Amendment.
Remember this is OBAMA we're talking about, he can do anything he wants to do, damn the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. He's a Dictator and will bring into being by E.O. anything that he wants. That's what's so scary about this.

Right now any ban is going to have to go through the Senate first. Many Democratic senators are supported by the NRA but, anyone who's senators are Democrats should really start turning up the heat on those guys. Makie sure they know they're OUT if they vote or support a ban.... I think most of Obama's EO's were just a lot of hot air and pandering.
