Default And it has only been 2 years

Oh! And we dont have inflation.

Time for the revelation of some very interesting numbers.

Two years ago, Barack Obama was inaugurated as president of the United States. Are you better off today than you were two years ago? Numbers don't lie, and here are the data on the impact he has had on the lives of Americans:

January 2009 2011 % chg

Avg. retail price/gallon gas in U.S. $1.83 $3.104 69.6%

Crude oil, European Brent (barrel) $43.48 $99.02 127.7%

Crude oil, West TX Inter. (barrel) $38.74 $91.38 135.9%

Gold: London (per troy oz.) $853.25 $1,369.50 60.5%

Corn, No.2 yellow, Central IL $3.56 $6.33 78.1%

Soybeans, No. 1 yellow, IL $9.66 $13.75 42.3%

Sugar, cane, raw, world, lb. fob $13.37 $35.39 164.7%

Unemployment rate, non-farm, overall 7.6% 9.4% 23.7%

Unemployment rate, blacks 12.6% 15.8% 25.4%

Number of unemployed 11,616,000 14,485,000 24.7%

Food stamp recipients 31,983,716 43,200,878 35.1%

Unemployment benefit recipients 7,526,598 9,193,838 22.2%

Long-term unemployed 2,600,000 6,400,000 146.2%

U.S. dollar/ Japanese yen 89.76 82.03 -8.6%

National debt, in trillions $10.627 $14.052 32.2%

I had this laid out very nicely but it is not letting me post the proper lay out.

Huh. And they say CHANGE can't happen. Seems to be spiraling out of control just fine to me.

When the hell will this country put SOMEONE up for election for the highest office in the land that knows what it is like to be of character again?!

Jesus but I miss first term Reagan.

I was just talking with the girlfriend about this. Living in the northeast it seems a great % of people are angrier/crankier than elsewhere. So I was explaining the out of control rise in living/working costs and the bleak outlook for the future.

It seems too many folks were content to keep their heads in the sand while the economy was "rolling right along". Now that reality has set in and folks have had 2yrs to see the light many are just plain scared. Even more are completely ill-equipped or ill-prepared for it. The next 2yrs don't look any brighter, if anything they look to be much, much worse.

Good times ahead, good times

The scariest part is that he may very well be reelected by the same fools that elected him in the first place. The Chicago style tactics and the Dem get out the vote machine, incredibly gullible people and the Alinsky model will be almost impossible to defeat.

If the Republicans nominate a Romney or some similar type candidate, the left's victory will be assured.

Tough choices are necessary and everyone will feel it. Sadly, most folks yap loudly about cutting spending - until it's something that affects them. Nobody is going to be immune to the cuts that must come. I'll be 56 this year and I'll be honest when I tell you I've never planned on receiving a dime from Social Security. Yes, I've paid into it all of my working life - but I fully expect to be excluded from any benefit. This is OK by me only if it's applied equally to all.

Jeebus, just read that old Newt is going to run. If the GOP cannot find some younger fresher people - we will have Zero for 4 more years. My opinion is that if you have run and failed once - your time is over. Putting up the "next old man in line" is what killed the GOP in 96 (with Dole) and 2008 (with McCain)...

Sorry to say the worst times are coming and sooner than most think. Within the next two years there will be total kaos in this country, especially when the all mighty US DOLLAR is no longer the world's currency reserve. Banks will close, US Currency will no longer be accepted in most places, including here. This is happening already and people don't see it, or don't want to see it. Things will get bad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant afford gold so it is bullets, beans and silver. My problem is convincing the wife to let me buy more guns and ammo. I cant touch my IRA without paying a lot of taxes. I did put 5kw of solar on the house last year. Interest rates are down the tubes and the solar gives me a 7-8% return in reduced power bills before the tax breaks. I am hoping the crash holds off until after summer so we can get a trip in this year. Even there I am planning on staying within 400 miles in case I have to make a fast trip home. Also because of fuel prices. I plan on keeping my AR and shotgun with me.
