so is it your opinion that a freely elected government can bypass or even violate the Constitution or the rights of the people and we are suppose to just allow it? just because the majority voted that way?

apparently you have no true knowledge of our country or our Constitution. might want to read some American history and what our founding fathers fought for and what they were willing to die for.

had your country won instead, they would have been prosecuted and put to death as traitors. we call them patriots.

BTW, our country was envisioned as a republic, not a democratic nation.

If they did that would the people not vote them out at the next election. So basically people can set themselves up as militias and fight if they see it necessary to overthrow an elected government. A government has legitimacy because they are voted in by the people. What legitimacy has a bunch of people that get together and call themselves militia.

you really need to do some reading into history and current affairs and gain some knowledge of the subjects you want to discuss.

you really seem to be in most of the discussions that are way over your head.

The ONLY legitimate government is America is one that follows the rules and respects the rights layed out in the US Constitution.

Militias aren't going to physically fight the Government everytime an unconstitutional law is passed. If that were the case, Washington would have been ablaze years ago.
What they will do is defend their state should the governemnt become truely tyranical and try to forcibly take away our rights.

What you seem to be suggesting is that American need to just lay down and allow the government to do anything they want until the next election. That works out really well for you didn't it? Unlike in the UK, it is still legal to own AR-15s and handguns in America.

I thought the AR's were like the California models or otherwise neutered in some way?

I think you are misunderstanding the term "militia" as it is used here. There are some good ones and some groups that masquerade as good ones. I don't think civil war is the priority for the good ones.

It's a shame some folks don't have as much respect for the 1A as the second.

Yeah, if the ARs are single shot.

The handguns have to either be antique, black powder, non centerfire unless they meet a certain lenght requirement (a barrel no shorter than 30 cm or a total length of less than 60 cm), or rimfire. Plus, you have to have a license to own any of this.

As for the militias,

Battle of Athens

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_(1946)

The Texas State Guard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_State_Guard

The National Guard is concidered a militia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Guard_of_the_United_States

Numerous States such as Tennessee, Alabama, and New York also have a state militia.

You obviously know nothing about militias in America.
