Oh, that is the least of it, what about requiring business owners to pay into an unemployment insurance system? What about requiring employees to pay into a retirement supplement program of questionable viability? What about the advantages enjoyed by road work contracting businesses with "minority" "ownership/participation"? Etc. etc. etc.

Don't think of it as "living under the weight of socialism"; think of it as "togetherness" like "yes WE can".

This bill is bad news, even if it doesn't make it to the House for a vote. It does not surprise me who has drafted it either. McCain threw the Bill of Rights out the window when he wrote campaign finance reform that Bush signed into law. Is should be no surprise either that a democrat would help. What disturbs me is that I know these people are aware of what the Constitution says but still they seem to not mind the circumventing of it to move their agenda along. They tell us it's for our good and protection....I don't see that.

Guys at what point is it that our rights mean enough for us to take action against this type of thing? I know we have our vote and we can contact our reps but as time goes on it seems to me these people do whatever they please even if it is unconstitutional. They seem to not think the public will ever react against them. Maybe they're right, maybe we have become a nation that does not value freedom as our forefathers did.

I'm pretty sure were loooonnnnggg past justification....its a matter of balls and audacity as to what happens next.

The pond scum on the cesspool, aka "the cream of the crop" in the district of criminals has been trying to pass laws like this for a long time.

Ever hear of the "denying weapons and explosives to dangerous terrorists act" by Frank Lautenburg?

He wanted to get a "law" passed that would make your and mine 2A rights subject to secret government lists.......

These people are long overdue a good tarring and feathering.

I think we will have to be pushed much further than we are right now to take a drastic action against this. Most of us have never done a thing to limit a fellow citizen's right to freedom but these people do it every day. We also have not enabled an enemy of this nation to get an upper hand on us but acts such as Clinton making it fairly easy for China to gain technology that enabled them to put nukes on our soil has been done with little or no resistance. Those same Chinese are now working with Iran by the way. Can these people, like mccain, not see how they are hurting the rights of all of us?

I'm all for the long overdue tar and feathering but who leads this and when do we start?

re: no smoking laws.

Last year city Gubmint enacted a blanket no smoking law in ALL "public" buildings. NO smoking in bars, restaraunts, workplaces etc etc....all with out a vote by city council, Wake up one day and BAM! LAW!

Sad fact, Americans are far too fat and happy (and stupid) to do ANYTHING to stop it. Incementalism! By the time the populace at large wake up, it will be far too late and we'll all be under the boot of totalatarinism! Kinda like Germany woke up one day and they were pulling jews out of the ovens for supper!
