And you believe anything that comes out of his mouth? If he says 40%, I would believe 5%. And maybe .05% are illegal transfers. Universal background checks solves NOTHING!
Umm, no......reread my post, as simple as it is:

Quote:
Seems to me that what O'Bama was saying is 40% of CURRENT gun transfers are done w/o BG checks. Not including pre-brady bill. I would say this would be an unprovable statement. And as such, a big pile of BS.
I'm referring to the article the OP put up. O'Bama apparently DID say 40%. I think that's BS.I agree, 40% seems way too high.

There it is. Politicians are experts at throwing numbers around, and they especially love numbers that fit their agenda and yet can't be confirmed either way. Simply by saying 40%, and being widely quoted as saying 40%, they've given the figure some credibility even if it's totally fabricated.

I think legal gun sales are up 54 %. If 40% of the sales are unreported? Then this means gun sales are up 75 %. Why did Obama tell the Democrats to vote for gun control? Obama said , don't worry this is not the 1990s. Americans are no longer as interested in gun rights.
How can firearms sale be so high by these numbers? The Democrats claim firearms ownership has dropped from 49% to 36% in the U.S. Now we see gun purchases are the highest in history?
Figures lie, and liars figure thats how!!!

Many states currently allow holders of concealed carry permits to be excused from BG checks. This is one of the issues the Democrats want changed. The Democrats are building a case against concealed carry through out the Nation. They are starting to "Chip" away.

I am not asking for names, but am looking for a way to compare our data to the 1997 "40%" data quoted by our President and Vice President.
The 40 percent stuff is lies, distortions and exaggerations. Its based on vague assumptions from a telephone survey of 251people taken many years ago.

Quote:
If you look at guns that were bought, traded, borrowed, rented, issued as a requirement of the job, or won through raffles, 85 percent went through Federal Firearm Licensees and would have been subject to a background check. Only 15 percent would have been transferred without a background check.

RE: Felony concerns, I had not heard that the new potential law would be applied retroactively to our earlier transactions that were legal at the time they took place. I would think that would be an expostfacto law and therefore unconstitutional and unenforceable.

If they are watching (and I think they are), they can see my current sign language for them. I have a stool sample ready for them anytime, so do my cats.

Bottom line is I will not register me or my guns, I will not turn any of them in, nor my ammo and mags. I will not bury any of them because if they are not in my hand they are of no use. If I choose to sell one it will be to who evers name I can't remember. At this point if I choose to buy another I will get it without any paperwork.
