My view is that I am against gun control . Now that we have got that out of the way, as I posted earlier be very careful looking at stats and believing them as facts without looking where they came from and doing some research. People are posting stats from pro gun sources, and surprise the stats support the pro gun point of view. I could post stats from a gun control source , and surprise they would support the anti gun agenda. It amazes me that some people look at the stats that support their point of view and take them as gospel, If you are looking for an objective view on firearms pro gun or gun control a firearms forum in probably not the best place to find it.

Do you really expect to get an "objective" view from a site named Firearmstalk.com?

Hopefully the op has also elicited responses from other sources. If we could think of good reasons to limit law abiding citizens access to firearms we would gladly share them.

I can think of none at this time.

Neither can I ,think of a good reason to limit firearms to ( law abiding citizens ). But one side of the gun control debate seems to me as bad as the other. If someone talks about gun control, then the pro gun jump in the trenches and put out the same old rhetoric, and the anti gun do the same. Pro gun put out stats that prove in their opinion their view , and the anti gun do the same. There seems to be few people that look at both sides of the debate and think for themselves, rather than jump on their opposing bandwagons. And put out the same old predictable posts and rhetoric. On this forum they are only really convincing themselves and preaching to the converted, if that makes them feel better or more secure that's fine.

For example if a friend was against firearm, then I would have a discussion with them putting forward my point of view. I wouldn't start sticking pro gun posters in their faces or pro gun stats, talking about Hitler and the Nazis etc, would just turn them off. Just like anti gun doing the same to me would turn me off.

ever seen the stats from the FBI or the DOJ? i have seen them posted here before. i would consider those to be pretty good sources and their stats pretty much bear the same figures as those posted.

and TexasWoodWorker did list his sources in another post later on in this same thread. feel free to check them out.

Earlier I suggested the OP take a good hard look at ALL the original data when numbers are provided.

While correlation doesn't prove causality, ABSENCE of correlation WILL prove a LACK of causality.

If you paid a visit to one of the gun clubs in my area you would find many pro gun citizens, including LEO's and ex military, that would be happy to discuss the subject. That would require a trip to the northeast but I'm sure you'll be able to find the same resources in Utah. Check out your local NRA related clubs for sources.
