Grandmother supports gun control

I was at her house yesterday when the news came on. Here in Detroit, a mans apartment was broken into, which started a shootout between him and the burglar. A bullet from the mans gun missed the burglar and went into the next apartment and killed the elderly lady in it. My grandmother then used this as the reason why i shouldnt get a CPL or even own a gun in general. In my mind, its the same as saying because one person, who I dont even know, got hit by a car, also by another person I dont even know, that I should give up my car and walk or ride a bike everywhere I need to go, on the off chance that I hit someone with my car.

Agree, however the media will use every instance to show the hazards of guns, but will rarely if ever show the time an armed citizen saves the day.

ALL responsibility falls on the criminal who committed a crime with a weapon, the homeowner or tenant, should be absolved of any and all responsibility. If this criminal hadn't illegally tried to force his will upon someone, requiring that person to defend themselves legally, the the nieghbor would never have been hit in the crossfire. I do agree the msm will spin that the gun was at fault for the tragic loss of life of the innocent nieghbor, guns are bad and should all be punished! The sad part is the sheeple of the country believe "as gospel" the crap they see on the news.

It seems that at least once a week I turn on the news and hear the news guy say something like "Innocent victim gets shot sitting in their living room" or something like "house shot up at 20th street" what they neglect to say is these shootings are usually at the projects and 99 % of the time the result of a drug deal or gang related activity...

You are correct. I had an elderly neighbor run her car through another neighbors house but their wasn't a crazy initiative to keep her from driving. She still drives. 90 years old and drives. Scary.

My grandmother is also anti-gun.She describes herself as a 'socialist',because she comes from england and likes to point out how well 'Euro-socialism' has done there.
I wonder how well seniors fare against young thugs in their own homes when they arnet even 'allowed' to have 'offensive knives' to defend themselves.
Must be a criminals paradise out there.Free pickings everywhere, with no resistance allowed by government.

My stepfather is a Rabbi. For some reason, alot of Jewish folks support 'gun control'.
I dont know why, when 'gun control' policy disarmed the millions of Jews who died in Hitlers gas chambers.
I will always argue that had Jews (and other decent German citizens) started shooting on Kristallnacht, maybe the Holocaust would have never happened.

There are so many reasons why government should not have any control over what a person owns, lest of all their means of self defense.
Punish people who criminally use force against others, sure.Thats a must.
But 'gun control' is a misguided lie,a failed policy, and only useful in disarming the righteous.
It does nothing to protect seniors or other easily victimized people, and in its worst extremes it enables the mass murder of millions by government gone mad.

I sometimes argue with my stepfather over the issues, but its like trying to convince that horse you led to the well to drink the water.
He'd rather have 'kool-aid' anyway-calls our Founding Fathers 'racist, elitist slave owners' like all the other subversive Marxist scum like to do.
I dont argue with my Nan-shes 75 and I dont want to upset her.

But I think the worst thing about this 'gun control' mentality isnt just the willful ignorance of its subscribers, but the fact that like alcoholics-they need to hit 'rock bottom' before they understand just how bad things are.

And like a serious addiction, 'rock bottom' might mean 'stone cold dead'.

And I dont want my Nan to get hurt in her own home because shes unable to defend herself.

And I certainly dont want to watch as a powerful government gains a monopoly on the use of force and starts killing millions again.

So we have to keep arguing. We have to try to make these people in our lives see the folly and even the outright evils of 'gun control'-before they have to learn the 'hard way' when they are victimized by criminals and/or government.

Sad,aint it?

^^^ Maybe your "Nan" would accept some pepper spray or a tazer? My grandmother's barky little chihuahua scared a burglar into diving through a closed window one night, as her .38 sat on the dresser. That dog ate very well after that. Something is better than nothing.

Grandmother Anti-Gun

That's sad.....I wish mine was still living, she had 96 years with the world and
was pleasant and never complained, just loved her family. We had rifles and shotguns behind doors here and there. I did have to ask to take a .22 out
by myself when I was 10 and younger.

May God Bless Grandmothers, all of them !

She's more of a danger to evryone else than the average citizen that owns a pistol.

Yes and my grandmother is 74 so if someone my age, im 23, were to brake down the door on her and shes in the house by herself, she would have no defense. I would doubt that she could defend herself with her fists against a man 50 years younger, and even if she could, if someone is breaking in, they are probably armed themselves.
