Georgia SB 308 Passed/Military Exempt

Govenor signed SB 308 :) There is an excemption for active duty military - not required to get CCW to carry a weapon. Does anyone know if this applies to retired military also:confused:

NGIB 06-24-2010 10:28 PM

Negative it does not, only active duty.

Active duty military have always been exempt from having a permit and SB 308 didn't do anything in that regard. By the way, it's a GWL here in GA (used to be a GFL)...

Thank you, NGIB, for the information. I spent 29 years in military and did not want to get in trouble with green vs. blue military ID card.

Link to Georgia info

The group that was in the forefront of the drive to get the Georgia laws modernized was the Georgia Carry Organization
Georgia Carry : An information clearinghouse for Georgia Firearms License issues and news

We didn't get everything, particularly campus and church carry, but the purposefully vague "Public Gathering" (dating back to the Jim Crow era) was eliminated. Check out the link.
