Politicians, particularly Democrat politicians from large metropolitan areas, simply don't care about fixing the problem. It's too hard. It's easier to demonize law abiding citizens, and blame inanimate objects than to actually fix something that is going to require work and possibly annoy your largest voting bloc.
Let's face facts, It's all whitey's fault that these poor downtrodden & misunderstood children feel the need to form gangs in the first place. Hey pal, just be quiet and keep paying your taxes.

I saw a "political expert" on the news yesterday talking about the NRA and its influence. She then said she wished that a group that represented "the voice of the people" could be as organized as the NRA

Of course I'm no political expert but it seems that the record gun and ammo sales along with the amount of people getting their CCW permits would indicate that the NRA is the voice of the people!
