Why not get a list of editors and reporters working for those papers and list them on every web page you can find.

Maybe write a nice letter. Tell them you are a deranged psychopath and have been wondering where to get a gun to commit a horrible crime. Tell them that the local gun stores won't sell you, but now you know exactly which houses to target that have exactly what you need!

That is kind of along the same lines as what I was thinking...someone looking to steal a firearm now has a good idea where to look.

This is the type of cause we here at FTF can actually do something about. I am sure we have members here who can get information such as,

1. the reporter's name, address and phone number?
2. the newspaper editor's name, address and phone number?
3. a list of all the businesses that advertise with Gannett Company?

here's a first point of contact - eforbes@lohud.com

happy hunting FTF'rs

I stand corrected ... the law was amended on 2/14 of this year making it a crime to publish such information!

http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?sh=printbill&bn=A09388&term=

if there is anyone whose name and address have been wrongfully published, here is the NYS Attorney Generals website and contact info - http://www.ag.ny.gov/contact-attorney-general

a copy of the complaint I emailed toe NY Attorney General,

Quote:
As a firearms owner I find it reprehensible that anyone would publish the names and addresses of handgun owners. Alerting potential criminal activity to 2 things: 1) where they can steal a handgun from and 2) where they can commit crimes without encountering a firearm. After much research regarding the matter it would appear that the Gannet Company, it's publisher, the editor and the articles reporter broke the law with regards to privacy of these permit holders.

Among the more concerning issues is how the NY State Police allowed such information to be disseminated? to whom? and when?

Also, contrary to the articles claims the personal information of handgun owners is not isolated to residents of Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties. I find it disconcerting that the NY State Police would have such information of persons who do not reside within the State of NY.

I sincerely hope that your office follows up on this issue.

Regards,
Dog2000TJ

All they did was compromise every legal gun owned by these law abiding people. Now all a criminal needs to do is wait for those houses to be empty and steal those firearms. Freedom of information act used again the wrong way.

JSS, you should move back to FL. Thanks for reminding me of when the antis tried this crap in FL. We also had a prob where rental companies refused to take off their names from vehicles. With all the tourism, criminals were preying on them by seeing the rental stickers on the vehicle. It was, like this incident, public endangerment.

WRAL a Raleigh TV station publishes concealed carry holders names. They stopped posting addresses when the website became known as the craigslist for burglars.
