The FOID card
I'm new to the forums, and and one of the reasons I created an account was to discuss the FOID card. With its insane wait time and many of its other flaws, I have waited around 3 and a half months. Sent in app. On June 1st and it is now Aug. 24th. How long did you wait?

Not sure which one you live in, but it is the wrong state. 
Closest thing to an FOID card I have is my CC permit.

In Wis con zin you dont need a permit to buy a hangun or rifle ,shootgun - you need on if you live accross the BORDER.

I'm betting the OP lives in Illinois. I got my FOID card within 4 weeks or so. But that was a couple years ago. I know others who have filed this year and have been waiting months.
I really don't know what the deal is. My brother sent in for his FOID card about a month ago. He had his eye on a Colt 1911 on some gun auction site. I told him he can't buy a gun until he gets his FOID card. He said he sent it in about 3 weeks ago and it should be coming any day now. I told him, "Don't count on it."

It all depends i got mine in 6 weeks last year but allot of apps have been turned in latley. My wife's took almost 3 months at the beging of the year. Also depends on your record the more stuff you have the longer it will take they'll sift thru any mistominers(SP) for reasons to deny you. Any Felonys, Domestic battery, or Restraining orders are automatic NO.

my grandpa got his in two weeks over a year ago. Now my dad applied and has been waiting for over9 months then they said he cant own a gun because he has a speeding ticket record in arizona or something form like a decade ago. My mom just applied hopefully she gets hers.

What does FOID stand for ? What are the state requirements with this ? Can you buy and sell firearms in this state on your own, without a FFL involved ??
