Default electronic pickpoketing

Probably not exactly the right place for this, but depending on what is purchased it could cause legal problems, definately financial problems.

Thanks for the post!

This is scary!

I checked my cards and no RFID chip indicator on the cards, including D.L., Also, safe until 2013 when I have to renew the passport.

that is really scary how cheap the readers are and the ability for it to read through jeans and a wallet.

It's easy to prevent this kind of theft. Go to your bank and ask for a credit card sleeve that blocks the signal. I got one about a year ago from my bank. Also, if your card doesn't have the logo on it, it doesn't transmit.

thats kind of scary....probably plenty other ways the rfi stuff good get criminally manipulated.

i cant find the link but i also read an article the other day about bogus atms that get bought thru resale on craigslist, and then the software on them is hacked to read cards and collect the data, but also then issue a cancelled transaction notice like its out of money so you walk away unsuspecting....

the data gets sold to indentity thefts...or the criminal like..

Also read about skimmers, where a device is attached to the front of a legit ATM such that your card passes through it first and then into the actual ATM. The skimmer records the mag stripe info and usually a concealed camera records you entering your pin. It is suspected that some o fthe skimmers are made in the same Chinese factories that build the ATMs, the color of the plastics match so well.
