The fact is, we have enough oil here to be virtually independent from mid-east oil, we need to drill it, process it, and use it right here at home and to hell with the the mid-east! We need the fuel, the jobs and the money here. If there is enough left over we can sell it, but we need to worry about our own house instead of keeping the Saudis rich.
i totally agree. However, it's never going to happen because oil is an international commodity that is traded on the open market. It would take an act of congress to change that and congress is not up to the task; too many congress critters are in the pockets of the oil companies and commodity traders.

BTW: They are drilling baby drilling but the cost of oil keeps rising dramatically. The US drill rig count is up by 344 from this time last year. The number of international rigs is down from last year.

There are some of us who believe oil is an archaic form of energy, as solar and electrical energies can fare much better in advancing civilization and technology. But because of the abundance of oil, and the hunger to possess more of it, (even if propaganda takes us into more wars as in Iraq), it would be extremely impossible to change the course of our destiny. Because we depend too much on it, and too much on what our government spins.
