I wonder since women will soon be allowed in infantry units, will they ammend the SS rules? I was proud to register on my 18th birthday. Got a razor, but no shaving cream.

I believe you have 30 days from your 18th birthday to register. I remember registering, but I have slept a couple of times since then. It was 1979. Don't remember getting a razor.

I do t remember ever signing up. In fact I know i never went to the post office to do it, but I still somehow have a SS number. Not sure how. And no razor either.

Thanks for the replies . Then I'll be heading to the local post office soon. And I did get a razor. Nice little gift from Gillette.

I remember having to sign up for Selective Service so that I could... enlist in the military. Didn't make much sense then and I'm still confused as to why they couldn't simply add the list of SSN's of those who join the military to the exempt list.

I'm pretty ticked that I never got a razor though! Sure I got a nice signing bonus but that was taxed, I bet they didn't tax your free razor!
