Disarm Chicago, DC, NY, LA police
I was thinking, as a New Yorker who can't own a gun without a crazy and expensive process, if I am granted the privledge by a lone beuracrat, if I can be without a gun because I am thought not to need one, then the police should also be disarmed.
I was once asked by a cop "why do you need to carry a pistol?" My response, why do you?
People who hate guns often talk about Europe, and esp the uk pointing out their tough gun laws as some sort of a model. Well, uk cops with the exception of Ireland, don't carry guns. There are some special units that do, like swat teams, that's fine, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Let's move to disarm the police departments of these anti gun states and cities.

They were disarmed by the politicians in those areas that considered the actions taken by the police were a violation of the criminals civil rights. It looks like the cops are just carrying their sidearms for decoration.

So? Let me get this straight.
Because you live in an ultra liberal, jack knob populous that has passed a ton of anti gun legislation, you want to disarm the people who are the ones dealing with the criminal element that isn't ignoring the same laws you do?
Well what could possibly go wrong there?
I swear to Ape, sometimes I read a thread and want a check cut for those moments of my life back.
If you don't agree with the gun laws where you live, work to change them! Work to vote out anti gunners, campaign for pro gunners, move, but do something other than propose a policy that will result in more deaths, more robberies, more rapes and more crimes.
Disarm the cops? Then what? The magical Utopian society materializes?
My money is in probably not.

Given all the collateral damage in NY by police, I have no problem disarming them. It's like spin the bottle. Will I be shot by a cop or a bad guy?
