I'm just saying that we a slightly better off than having to get extra permits just to purchase handguns. Ideally we would be like the majority of the states that don't have bans on certain guns, waiting periods and we would get CCW as an option.

Unfortunately, as long as the Chicago political machine runs this state, it will be hard to get the anti-gun laws repealed.

Very well said and sadly, very true.

Here in Illinois you can purchase multiple handguns/rifles/shotguns on the same day with no problem.
What are you sayin?
That it could be worse for people who won't stand up for their rights?

What I'm saying is that until we remove the liberal Democrats from power in this state, anti-gun laws will not be removed. We could be far better off as far as guns go but there are states that do seem to have it worse than us.

Most of downstate is Republican but in our last governor election, Pat Quinn-Democrat only carried 3 counties in Illinois but won the governorship. There are I believe, 102 counties in Illinois, but the 3 represent enough of the population to sway an election. 2 are the Chicago area and the third was E. St. Louis.

When I read the "horror stories" of the things people have to go through to buy guns in other states, it only makes me more glad that I live in Nevada. We do have a 3-day wait for handguns but that's only on your FIRST purchase. None at all for rifles and shotguns. Once you've bought your first handgun, you walk into the gun store, fill out the 4473, wait for the phone call, pay the man and walk out with your shiny new toy. Weapons bought online just need to be shipped to a licensed FFL dealer and then you just go through the same process...form, phone call and pay the man. Ammo? I can buy as much or more than I can carry with no limitations whatsoever.

The solution in the restrictive states is for the voters to get rid of the scum and vermin creating these "regulations" against gun ownership. That, in and of itself, can be supremely difficult when there are more liberal voters than conservative or libertarian voters. Too many people are and have spent too long for this to be a viable situation. Unless or until the sheeple are outnumbered by the thinking voters, these situations will continue. That's unfortunate for the people in these restrictive states but without some kind of groundswell of pro-gun support, these states and cities are doomed. The same goes for the Marxist socialists who are ruining the economies of cities, states and, currently, our own government. In those cases, voting with your feet would seem to be the best option. Without getting rid of them by voting them out of office, we are again doomed and screwed (without even a courtesy reach-around).

Yankee, you have a problem. Get your state government to repeal insane gun laws or MOVE to another state.

I guess all those asshat politicians over there forget their roots.
I havent read all of the posts so i am sorry if someone has called you out on this. Pennsylvania, which is one of the origonal colonies has very reasonable gun laws. For instance, 25 bucks for a LCF (in my county), no class required for LCF, shall issue state, instant background check on all types of firearms, doesnt matter if I want a 30-30, Ruger Security 6, or an AK 47. If you are not a convict you can walk out with it right then and there.

I agree, generally speaking your point is correct but there are some exceptions. Remember, the majority of the of pa (by the acre) is rural, conservative, God fearing americans. Unfortunatly, the asshats in our more populated areas give us all a bad name. Not to mention we border ny, nj, and md which all have some eff'd up gun laws

I knew that some states, Kalifornia being the one I knew more about were very anti-gun purchase areas. I didn't know that it was as bad as it is in so many of them. If someone in Kansas was to propose a Firearms Owner ID they would be serving their last term in the legislature. We aren't free as we should be, but nothing like Jersey, New York, Kali, Illinois, etc.

I feel sorry for my fellow citizens who are oppressed in a basic right.

I live in Oklahoma. PRIVATE sales, no problem, 4473 + phone call to the feds from FFL's. No waiting periods.
