Being an Independent and a Red blooded Vet and Patriotic American at least I can say that during Bush's Administration the Bradey Bill died that was originally imposed by the Dems! BC 1994-2004. And the Dems wanted to extend it for the entire Nation! And it proved once again over the ten year period they were all wet claiming that the AR Rifles and other similar weapons were the cause of most gun violence and the choice of weapon for criminals. No difference today! But once again the Liberal,Progressive, Socialist Dems are at it again. And by the way for those of you Democrats they are not the Democratic Party of our parents and grandparents. They are as stated, Socialist Progressives! I am sure if it were not for the NRA and organizations like the National Shooting Sport Foundation and local groups and clubs we would not have our Second Amendment Rights with the idiots running our Government at the present! We all better be waking up in November! We all need to clean house this election! And the residents of CT. NJ. CA. and other states violating the Second Amendment and the Constitution need to go on attack and have a recall like Colorado did! And they won I might add! And most important rally to kick them out of office this next election!

Senate races 2014 could be one of the more important elections in our entire history.

Remember, Harry Reid is A+ rated by the NRA... what a friend he has been.

Also, think about this... SCOTUS Justice Eric Holder. We are one vote, ONE VOTE away from seeing serious restrictions on RTKBA. Senate votes on SCOTUS nominations. Choose carefully.

Even though this particular lawsuit had implications far and above OC, nothing was ZERO NRA support.
I know this much the man had a gun in a library. I have never been to a library that didn't have a gun buster sign in the door. The NRA does not waste it's money on people who go looking for trouble.

Every case the NRA takes they take it because the case was winnable and it makes other laws unconstitutional. If the NRA wanted to take on the MI open carry law they would find a better case than an idiot with a gun in a library.

It would pay to know the complete history of that particular case.

short story, MI has preemption, and municiple entities can not make their own rules. The library banned ALL firearms, which is why this was such an important case. Head of MI OC carried into the library like he does everywhere. Library sued MI OC after the police refused to enforce their rules. District judge had a rediculous ruling on facts that were not even before the court. Appeals court over turned district court. This is where the NRA could have and should have gotten involved, but didn't, because they believed it was about OC, which it wasn't. NRA has left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths over their lack of support in the case. It was pure grass roots efforts. State Supreme court refused to hear the case, leaving the appeals court ruling to stand.

Here's a good chronological write up with links to case filings.

The Brady bill did not expire. The Brady bill is the NICS instant check. The "assault weapons ban" expired, no thanks to Bush who promised to sign an extension of the bill if congress passed same. An extension of the "assault weapons ban" passed the US senate with 10 Republican votes in favor and six Democrats against. We were saved from an extension of the ban when US house speaker Hastert refused to schedule a vote.

I don't believe I have $10 for any firearms owner stupid enough to shoot a squirrel within city limits.......as was supposed by myself and others earlier on this thread, he was found to have 'illegal' firearms only after he went out and broke a law/called attention to himself. LEOs did not break his door down looking for illegal weapons......

Yep, the squirrel shooter incident is all over the web. The guy shot a squirrel from a window of his home. Two cops working nearby looked up to see a gun pointed in their direction. After talking with the guy, the cops got a search warrant.

Quote:
So Toigo decided to shoot a squirrel with his legally owned .22 rifle, shooting out through an open window from a position inside the home towards the street and where officers were standing for their construction job. The shot was close enough that it made the officers jump and they looked up to see the rifle pointed in their direction.

They detained and interviewed him, during which he admitted to shooting the squirrel. During the interview, he told officers that he owned several other firearms and had been shooting squirrels from inside the home on a regular basis, as evidenced by numerous bullet holes in the fence between his home and the neighbor’s. After his demonstration of poor judgement and his admission to owning other weapons, the officers then obtained a Risk Warrant, signed by a judge, on the basis of the unlawful discharge and his reckless use of the firearm.

My post was to try to give an idea on how each gun owner could have some influence and input when it hits the fan to try to win this battle. Not bash the NRA.
Are you a member of the NRA? I am, and believe we all should be. Are they perfect? No, but they stand out in front of all of us, and for all of us. Just joining and raising the number of members goes a long way toward influencing politicians. The NRA will help, but they cannot do it alone.

I agree with you though, ten bucks is a cheap price to help keep that crap from our states.
