It is. Gary Mauser is a Canadian univ'ty professor who has stepped forward many times to inject a voice of reason and fact into gun control debates. He's well qualified to express such opinions and he's also just a darned nice human being; reminds me of Kleck in some ways.

I just read the article in Jan 2014 American Rifleman by the NRA president and made me realize.

As I have talked with a few people about guns those who oppose guns and want more control - their arguments show they are misinformed just as the article suggests and the link above posted by rentacop. They are not stupid - just misinformed. They have been brainwashed by anti's and believe them wanting to spread their word.

Followup with a link to a Harvard University study (Harvard? Really?) that concludes: "In fact, the numbers presented in the Harvard study support the contention that among the nations studied, those with more gun control tend toward higher death rates."

If you focus on the "intentional death rates" and compare them to gun ownership it fails to consider another some of the most important factors surrounding intentional deaths, namely the socioeconomic situation in those countries with high death rates also have some of the worst socioeconomic conditions in the Western world. It is worth noting that all of the nations listed in the quote below (barring the US) are former Soviet republics. They are all still suffering the effects of Communism, have some of the highest rates of drug use and alcoholism and some of the highest rates of organized crime. Make those comparisons too (especially with Norway and Finland) and the study seems flawed to me.

Quote:
The U.S., which is so often labeled as the most violent nation in the world by gun control proponents, comes in 7th--behind Russia, Estonia, Lativa, Lithuania, Belarus, and the Ukraine--in murders. America also only ranks 22nd in suicides.

Valid points, but please everyone keep in mind that this thread is to list resources. It is not to debate.
