Even in residential homes it is required to have 2 means of egress in a bedroom - the door and a window.
The windows in all but one of our public schools have windows that DON'T open.

Hard to believe huh ? Ever seen seatbelts on a school bus, cost too much.

Two stories up? I was thinking maybe 3 to 5 feet. So . . never mind.

In Zombiegirl's school the best possible solution would be to allow concealed carry in the classroom if the teacher desires to do so, and shelter in place. A bunch of kids escaping out the second story window and running away across the parking lots would make them into a shooting gallery.

I looked this up after FMJ said that laws were changed back in July. How do you interpret this? I am going to investigate.

It reads to me like you definitely can have it in your car, and since you are employed by the school and legally allowed and licensed to carry the way it reads says you can carry in the classroom. But I am not a lawyer.

I think I'd agree, because they're two stories up and are trapped.

However, if Adam had thought to check the closet door at Sandy Hook, a lot more children would have been killed.

The Columbine School Library massacre was the kind of 'Shooting fish in a barrel' having all the victims in one place would facilitate. I maintain it would be harder to hit dozens of children running in all different directions, than if they're all in one place should that place be breached.

Kids in school are taught to walk/run in organized lines, often with their hand on the shoulder of the kid in front of them. That makes for a pretty compelling line of targets to a bad guy.

This is true. It's unknown how effective being told to run away from each other as far as they can would be. Still, I think moving 'targets' several yards away and increasing, are harder to hit than 'targets' several feet away and stationary.

ZG, what does your school say about a can of pepper or bear spray in your desk?
