I believe what you're referring to is "enforcing discipline", which
is useless if, you don't set down discipline doctrine to begin with.
Beating the troops till morale improves is a very half-gap method.
Children need to be let known what is expected of them, and
trained to do what is proper. "Discipline", like "diet", is, in it's
essence, a noun, not a verb...
The sad and true fact, is your child will have your attention.
Whether you opt to surrender it voluntarily, or have them take it , is
up to you.
What do I know? My daughter is an honors student,
who just graduated from college, Cum Laude.
