I still remember what dear old dad said to me when I told him I wanted to go to college. "Why? They need a janitor?"

CONGRATS

I went back after a couple, (ok 3) decades to work on my MBA. It was an exhilarating experience for me... not sure all my professors agreed, including the one I recommended the Dean fire

Good for you! And congratulations on your acceptance. It's nice to know that there will be another lawyer out there who has a conscience and supports our constitutional rights.

Congrats on getting into a Tier 1 school. If you decide to go out of state, this for some reason is arbitrarily important to employers.

CONGRATULATIONS!

One is never 'too old' to learn. Your years of experience will give you an advantage. I wish you the best of luck.

Congratulations!
I went back to school at 47 to become a nurse. I’m most proud of my time as a surgical floor nurse, but the best experience I’ve had was as a RN student. Our class’s ages were spread between kids just out of HS, to a couple that were older than me.

The young ones made use of our ‘worldly’ experience and we older ones made use of the youngster’s energy. It was the best educational environment. Especially after/because of, the first year wash-out.

I don’t know how intense law school is, but the nursing program taught us how to learn, fast, and work with each other as if we had been a well-oiled team for years. I consider it as important as all the bio & medical science we had to master. Being a LEO you already know about intense & team work. Your younger classmates may not. Teach them.

[Personally, I’ve always been interested in how the conflict between justice (one rule for all) and mercy (allowance for extenuating circumstances) is resolved. I no longer believe in making the punishment fit the crime, but punishment to fit the criminal. Maybe I should go to law school too.]

Are we related? That's exactly what my dad said to me too! They must have heard it from the same T.V. show or something.

Lawman, I don't know if I've said this or not, but best of luck to you!

I got my acceptance letter to UofA College Of Law. Yes, that's right....I am going to be the oldest (probably) law student there.

After 23 years wearing a badge...now I am going to go to the dark side and be a barrister.

Not to worry though...I will NOT be an ambulance chaser. As of now, my plan is to specialize in firearm law and self defense representation. I will especially NOT work in the public defender's office. Though working as a prosecutor for a year or two has some appeal.

That's three years away, assuming my old brain is still capable of learning anything new.

At least I won't have to work while going to school...the pension checks will continue to roll on in.

Wish me luck all.

(I will set up a paypal account for legal questions...LOL...just kidding)
Congrats!!!
