can I use USPS to return a .22 rifle for repairs?

I don't see how seeking out a rifle that is stored away in a closet and intentionally damaging it then stealing the magazine and not returning it can be justified, taking possession of the gun so nobody grabs it and uses it against them, fine, but what they did is total horsesh*t. I would definately contact an attorney. I have dealt with some Jim dandy cops around here the last couple years and hearing s**t like this makes my blood boil.
