Can Holder’s Own Inspector General Objectively Investigate Him?
From FirearmsTruth.com (Can Holder
Operation Fast and Furious is slowly being investigated by the Executive and Legislative branches of the government. Both President Obama and Attorney General Holder deny any knowledge of the operation before the story broke in the news. The Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General is conducting an investigation but can it objectively investigate its own boss, Eric Holder?
Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa are investigating Fast and Furious for the Legislative branch. On July 4th they held a secret meeting with Ken Melson, acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the entity most involved with implementing Fast and Furious.
Oddly, Eric Holder requested a copy of the transcript of the secret July 4 meeting on behalf of his Office of Inspector General (OIG). This personal request came before any OIG request was made of the July 4 meeting. Does Mr. Holder want to read the secret transcript himself?
“Since the OIG is supposed to be conducting an independent inquiry, it seems odd that the Department would make a document request on behalf of that office,” Grassley and Issa wrote to Holder on Tuesday. “We presume that if the OIG would like to make such a request, it is capable of doing so on its own initiative. However, we have not received any such request from the OIG.”
Rep. Darrell Issa may be leery about releasing any secret meetings because of some half-truths used against him politically by likes of the Washington Post and other pro-administration outlets. In a Washington Post story it was claimed that Issa and others were briefed on the ATFs’ Operation Fast and Furious in 2010 and that at the time he didn’t raise any objections. He was made to look like a hypocritical political hit man when he later attacked Fast and Furious.
What the story didn’t include was that Issa and the others were lied to. They were told that Fast and Furious was instigated by rouge low level agents. Conclusive evidence proves that Fast and Furious went at least as high as acting director Melson, who watched illegal straw purchases in his office live via the Internet.
Being lied to and then having that lie used against Rep. Issa politically probably makes him much more skeptical when it comes to investigating the Executive Branch. In Tuesday’s letter, Grassley and Issa also asked Holder to provide complete answers to the questions they sent him on July 22. The Attorney General, our highest federal law enforcement officer, appears to be stonewalling an investigation with international consequences.
The lies, half-truths, red-tape and political thug tactics that the Executive has used to stop or slow an investigation into Fast and Furious is enough to warrant a special investigator who reigns outside the reach of Holder or President Obama. This rocket may take the administration all the way to Mars but not back.
No! Congress needs to appoint an independent council to investigate.
In a word; NO!
Where's Ken Starr when you need him!!! :o
I think the Re-pubic-cans are missing a huge opportunity here.
No! You need outside investigator(s) that has no ties to either side, a complete neutral body. Too much corruption! Where do you find an independent agency.

The following is not about weapons; but, about Obamacare from Judicial Watch FOIA request:
Report: Obama Admin Funded Obamacare Internet Propaganda Campaign
In a bombshell accusation, the government watchdog group Judicial Watch announced today that the Obama administration used taxpayer money to help orchestrate an internet search engine manipulation campaign specifically promoting Obamacare.
Judicial Watch obtained 2,328 pages of records pursuant to a March 23, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The FOIA information included correspondence between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Ogilvy Group, the public relations fire hired by the White House to push Obamacare on the American people.
Judicial Watch listed the following as major points of interest from the FOIA request (all bullets quoted):
•The Obama HHS launched a campaign to track Internet searches and to use online search engines such as Google and Yahoo to drive traffic to a government website promoting Obama’s healthcare overhaul. Using “pay-per-click” advertising tools, such as Google Adwords, HHS purposely targeted for influence people searching the term “Obamacare,” a word that has been described as “disparaging” by political agents of the president.
•According to a budget summary prepared by Ogilvy, from October 2010 through February 2011, the Obama administration spent $1,435,009 on these online advertisements alone, including advertising campaigns with Google and Yahoo, almost $300,000 per month.
•A number of documents address the need to target the Obamacare propaganda campaign to Hispanics, blacks, and women. For example, according to an email from Chris Beakey, Vice President of Ogilvy PR Worldwide, to HHS officials on December 16, 2010, summarizing a conference call, “You want to utilize the bulk of their paid media efforts (which would include expenditures for Radio One and Univision) on media that reaches African Americans and Hispanics. The money will go farther and these audiences continue to be a top priority.”
•A January 18, 2011, email from Ogilvy to HHS New Media Communications Director Julia Eisman notes with respect to a Spanish banner ad campaign, “I realize we really can’t use the blond mom and child for this audience.”
The corruption never ends.
Why are we hanging all this on Eric Holder?
The administration will gladly use him as a scapegoat,
then move on, business as usual.
BATFE and the administration should be held
responsible for the deaths of innocents.
ANY of us would be sentenced to death for doing
what they did.
The least we can do is confiscate their guns, permits,
and rights for life.
The BATFE is an entity of the Department of Justice. Yes, many at the BATFE are guilty as hell. But Holder definitely knew about F&F and Obama probably knew about it. The objective here is to hold those at the highest levels who knew about this accountable to the law.
What we face the danger of doing here, is meekly
sitting by, while the Administration hangs out a scapegoat to
be used as the sin-eater for the entire affair.
Does anyone here consider that to be justice?
(Besides, of course, the Department of Justice)
I blanch at the thought that these guys not
only got away with a laundry list of felonies and abuses
of the public trust, but for this they were promoted!
If the DOJ is going to support these guys, then let's
enter every action by a federal employee into case law.
Then, when WE do what THEY did, we can get a promotion too,
instead of being sentenced to death...
This smells fresh...
