Cabelas Ammo Policy Change
I was at Cabelas yesterday with the family. They now have a 10 box max limit per customer on all ammo purchases per caliber (I'm sure you have heard). dumb is this? Somehow 10 boxes per customer are going to keep schools from being shot up? This is like the 16oz soda ban in New York. Ok....I'll just come back and buy two twelve ounce sodas. Oh....this thinking really escapes me sometimes.:confused: Ten today, ten tomorrow...yup...that will stop this. ;)

Is it for that reason or is it to keep them from running out so quick? My local gun shop won't sell in bulk anymore either to try to keep from running out. They said 4 years ago when sales went through the roof everybody bought up all the ammo and they were trying to sell guns that they had no ammo for.

Not sure. I just went on a "live chat" with their online customer support team. Apparently ordering online there is no specific policy in least thats what the customer service rep told me. Thought I would look into it as I was not sure if its 10 boxes per day per customer? 10 boxes per transaction per customer?...etc....etc.

I was a Dick's here yesterday and they had signs up limiting ammo to 6 boxes. Not sure if it's company wide or just this location.

Midwest was doing the same thing, a ten box limit. It has a lot to do with selling some to all or all to someone. There is a shortage. I waited a week and reordered.

Why would want to support Dicks?

I normally don't. Our oldest boy got a Dick's gift card for Christmas and he wanted to buy a Drew Brees jersey.

I expect its about making sure everyone can get the chance to buy some. Kind of hard to keep the store open if the shelves are bare. Despite the mad rush to stock up, a lot of people still just want to but a couple boxes for a trip to the range. ;)

I asked and it was to prevent a couple of panic buyers cleaning off the shelves.

This probably has more to do with the buying craze than the shooting. I doubt it will be a permanent policy.
