I am not a lawyer. I am not going to attempt to give legal advice. I would have a talk with him about not mentioning firearms to his friends or anyone at school. That advice is worth just what you paid for it.

This was a Christmas present to my 16yo and is kept right behind his bedroom door. It does give an added sense of security for when i am not around.

Some states have "safe storage" laws, for the children of course. I could see them using that to prosecute the parents. In most states I doubt there would be an issue.
