I know of a lot of bad government agencies, they're all in the District of Columbia,USA.
They all need to be shut down, and let's start it all over from the ground up.

Yeah, well, for now, I'm thinking cutting the ATF would be a money

saver for us, and a career saver for B.O...

The budget for the atf is about 1.1 billion a year. Thats a sizeable sum to be saved and a good place to start cutting in my opinion. With only 5000 employees it would'nt even put that many people out of work... But it is a source of control for the government which means they will never cut the atf. I won't be surprised if the end result of this massive atf blunder is more money for the atf.

They could be "repurposed" as border guards to assist the guys at ICE.

Ok,

Iíve been reading and listening to Cory2, Freefall, Therewolf and now Orangello lay a heap load of sh*t on the ATF and blame them for everything up to and including the clap, male erectile dysfunction and the weather.

Enough please. The ATF has and will make mistakes and have screw ups. BUTÖ blaming them for everything is you guys doing the exact same thing you blame the ATF for doing being suspicious of everyone and believing everyone is guilty of weapons crimes. Give me a break, you do your job, whatever it is, in according to the rules of the company and the way they want you to do it and if you donít like something I bet you just b*tch about it and pretty much thatís it. I will bet that there are people in your job that screw things up also.

There is a lot the ATF does that you donít know about and things you will never know about. I have friends who are Agents and they are doing a good job trying to do a difficult job. You arm chair commandos, thatís right Iím calling you arm chair commandos, would be better served to comment on specific screw ups without such a broad brush. I have worked a lot of joint ops with the ATF and we have stopped a sh*t load of explosives and such from coming into this country being brought in by some nasty people but you donít hear about those ops you only hear about the screw ups like Gun Runner.

And Orangello we donít have ďborder guardsĒ and ICE is probable more dysfunctional than the ATF on their job performance. Again I have a bunch of Agents in ICE that are great and dedicated guys trying to do a difficult job. Put the blame where it belongs on the politicians.

So yeah you can have your opinions and you can even voice and print them if you so desire but to me your blind single sided obsession with blaming the ATF for everything is just wrong. And thatís my opinion.

One thing that is being thought about in small circles is if we get rid of the ATF then who will replace them? Make no mastake someone will take up their roll and it is thought that it will be Fatherland Insecurity I mean Homeland Security. Now do you really want that ugly bitch in charge of Fatherland Insecurity dictating your gun rights?

I would support a reduction in abilities of the ATF to inact new laws or restrictions but getting rid of them all together I would be loth of that move.
