I was there in OZ when it happened. They banned the guns due to the Port Arthur Massacre. Weird thing was.. gun owners were just complying to the ban. No arguements, debates or sort ever like what we have here in US. Seemed like they didn't fight for their rights.

Classification of certain firearms to require a Federal Owner License to purchase or possess.... Like NFA, but will be licensing of owner, not individual firearms which would be registration. There are states with a Firearms Owner ID program... However, on a Federal program, I see Bolt, Lever, Pump and Breach Actions not requiring a license preventing violation of the 2nd Amendment.

Ban on civilian sale of high capacity magazines. The anti-gun groups want set at 10 round limit, but compromise to get passed may mean 15 or 20 round limit. You can definitely count 30, 50 and 100 round magazines being banned. Of course, how they do this would interesting, there are magazines marked "LE Only" manufactured between 1994 and 2004 that were made legal when the 1994 AW Ban expired. If the industry were to go to go back to marking over 10 round capacity magazines "LE Only", you would end up with some that were made legal and others that are not legal.

One industry person I spoke to thinks what may come is a ban on new manufacture of lowers as they are known today and require new lowers be designed that cannot use any of the old format magazines. Magazines for the new rifle would only be built in 5 and 10 round capacities and therefore, anyone caught with a magazine larger than 10 rounds would clearly be in violation of a new magazine restriction law.
