This story has been making its way around the web for a day now.
This is not true, and a result of rumors and bad reporting. This event never happened.
... It was a gun free zone. How could it have happened?

Unfortunately it did happen, and the shooter reportedly used an AR-15. The dreaded, misnamed 'assault rifle,' of course. In the quote below notice how, while technically accurate, the writer very neatly ties the AR-15 to the M-16…." Both rifles fire the same high-powered cartridge."

Fox News ran a live report last night and the local LEOs did not identify the weapon used, but the local news reporters claimed that it was an AR-15, was the weapon actually identified?

An eye witness spoke with CNN and was terrified of the firearm, called it a "Call of Duty type rifle" and the suspect was wearing a Friday the 13th style hockey mask.
"Call of Duty type rifle" will be the new buzzword of this tragic event, further demonizing the AR. Just watch
