2nd Amendment Bans

When did restrictions on our gun rights start?

Did they start outlawing certain guns after the Thompson became popular?

Depends on how one views the attacks on the 2nd Amendment, It really started right after the Civil War as a measure to stop freed slaves from owning guns. But the most noted ban on guns was the tax act in the 1930's for automatics weapons, which did not really ban a gun just made them hard to get.

I believe that 1968 was the next big one instituting some form of gun control.
