I'm thinking the same thing. I can get a little Mossberg 215t .22 that looks badass for like $325 so I can get a $2000 tax break.

2 things:

1) if you read the whole thing you can only turn in 1 gun, and that credit gets split over 2 tax years.

2) Tax credits are not the same as deductions. A $2000 tax credit means you are getting 'credit' for having paid $2000 of the tax you would otherwise owe. Hence $2000 is $2000.

Regardless, this is a stupid idea and there's no chance it will be passed.

pffft ... i recently read about maybe a dozen PR residents submitting almost 30k tax returns

If enough people turn in hi-points for a profit they may actually get rid of the system!

After reading the proposed bill ,it appears that my old Model 12 Winchester pump would qualify.This platform was used as a "military weapon system" in a couple of wars.
I have never seen so much stupidity coming from so many people in all my years.
If you want to stop crime , kill all the criminals. See how simple that is. LOL
