While I'll agree that many in the business of producing welfare recipients will always side with those that will give them more money I don't think taking away rights of the people is a good idea. Using this mind set I guess I should have no right to vote because I was sorry enough to tare my spine up to the point that I can't work anymore. What I receive from SSDI is not enough to have me pay any tax on it. Shame really...I thought I'd been a good conservative all this time.
+1000 but mine was not the spine that got trashed. And no I don't make enough either on SSD to pay the bills let alone taxes

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

I would love to see them come for him so he and his department can wipe out the entirety of the mexican drug gang. I wouldn't shed a tear if the whole group disappeared today.

The narcos don't give a damn about immigrants. They don't give a damn about anything that doesn't have to do with making them rich. If anything, they are profiting from illegal immigration being as difficult as it is, because they can get paid more from coyote operations. But those are extremely minor side-businesses for the cartels.

Seriously people. Screw your heads on and take another look at this. It's total BS.

Unless you're an anarchist, nobody wants what some of the people here are proposing. There's a Constitution, there's a social contract, there's the shared commons (resources, land, etc.) and so on. These are things that belong to all of us, which make up this nation. You don't have to be a socialist to think that some kind of federal support of the unemployed is needed. Being a fiscal conservative doesn't mean wanting *no* government, *no* taxes, *no* nothing. That's just insanity. We'd wind up like somalia.

You should spend some time with actual border patrol officers sometime. First of all, there isn't just *one* gang. There are several cartels (Sinaloa, Zetas, Juarez, etc.).

Second of all, they have a thousand times the financial resources, manpower, and firepower that border patrol or even a sherrif's department has. A "battle" between Arpaio and his posse against even the weakest cartel would last about a day. Charitably. Probably not even that.

But the point is, to the cartels, Arpaio doesn't even exist. They don't give two hoots and holler who he is. They probably don't even know who's president in the US. Well, maybe they do. But these guys are feudal lords. They live in their fiefdoms, and that's all they care about.

It's kind of arrogant for us to sit around thinking that they even care about Arpaio. And it's kind of mind-boggling to see people who I think are smart (a lot of the regulars here) buying this baloney about death-threat bounty tweets.

Buying into this bounty nonsense on Arpaio is a bit like these people who think, "The Mafia should run the country for 2 years because they know how to get things done!" These groups are the most self centered, egotistical, tyrants in existence. The only thing they are more full of then themselves is hedonism. Bill T.

Do tell, as apparently the local "expert" on these issues, how and when you have gleaned all this inside knowledge into what the cartel will and will not be doing.

WHY do the cartels supposedly do not care about Arpaio making extra stops on vehicles with Mexican nationals behind the wheel, intercepting drug shipments, and making a drug highway harder to travel??

Considering you have mentioned the cartels by name, I assume you know that the Zetas especially have gone so far as to put their hit squads on the path of a Texas border Lawman, a step father to a missing daughter who was profiled on America's Most Wanted and have conducted killings on the US side of the border.

The fact of the matter is, none of us have any god damn idea WHAT they are capable of because there is absolutely NO WAY to predict what the cartels will, and will not do, to protect their drug traffic.

The only thing we have to go on is their activity to date. So what do we know for sure?
  • They are well funded,
  • They hold a grudge,
  • They are VERY well armed,
  • They will kill their own people at the drop of a hat,
  • They will kill Americans twice as fast
To categorically say they WILL or WILL NOT be doing something in the future with any sense of certainty is a fool's exercise.
