I'm just tired of that old lacquer BS.

No harm, no foul..........it's all good.

Wolf is good cheap-shit plinkin' ammo, not national match stuff.

You're still a ammo snob!

I plan on using it strictly for range fodder. I have LC XM193 and Federal AE223 Tactical for anything real world. Up until now, my range ammunition has been PMC.

I value my firearms and maintain them to the best of my ability. I just want to make sure I do no harm. If the consensus of the men here that I trust and consider mentors is that Wolf is okay for my Mini, I'll try it. If the results are unsatisfactory, I'll just sell the stuff and buy some more of the good stuff.

I have had zero problems with Wolf .223 in my early production Colt
AR-15A2. I usually clean after every range trip. A couple of years ago, I scored a 500 round stash of (presumably early 90's era) Norinco .223 with brass casings, which was very reliable, but I found the Wolf to be significantly more accurate.

I pick it up Thursday. I'll shoot some and see how it goes. Thanks for the feedback gentlemen.

Don, I stacked many, many cases of Wolf .223 in the bunker when it was still cheap. It gets used in the dez (all of mine is magnetic) through my Minis and AR's, and has been no problem at all.

The only issues I've had it that after running the gun til it is "hot", if I leave a round in the chamber and let the gun cool down, that empty case will stick in the chamber when it is fired.

My fix is to pop the round from the chamber after heating up, and leave the bolt locked back until ready to fire again.

Default Is there an easy way to tell the difference?

I have a case of Wolf .223 unopened. Does anyone know how to identify the lacquered from the non? Sorry for the dumb question..

That's not a dumb question Mongo. I don't know the answer either. I would guess that the newer/newest ammo is not lacquered. But I don't know how to differentiate between them.

I picked the Wolf ammo up this morning. There's 500 rounds sealed in plastic, I guess it's supposed to be a battle pack of sorts and a few hundred loose rounds.

I'm going to put a few mags of it through the Mini when Dune and I go shooting. Assuming there's no glitches, I'll shrinkwrap the rest of the loose rounds with some dessicant and put it all by for SHTF.

More ammunition is always good.
