Older thread but take a look at the Mueller brand of scopes.
I bought a Mueller APV 4.5X14X40 AO to put on a Remington 597 22lr.
It now sits on my Spikes .223 that I started shooting at a 200 meter range.
Very clear optics and the scope is rock solid.
I will buy Mueller again, folks compare them to the Leupold VX-2's in sight quality.

I've been researching a scope for my Ruger Gunsite Scout. SWFA has a couple Leupolds that look nice. 1.5 x 5 30 mm. $399 and I think $599 for the illuminated one. Sounds like really good glass too.

Burris has a 2-7x scout scope out now, it can be had with their BDC reticle, I kind of remember seeing the price as $300 something. A few days ago I saw at Sportsmans warehouse a 2.5-8x Nikon scope, called the Force XR. It is listed as a handgun scope with eye relief of 9-30 inches, sells for $289 and comes with their BDC reticle. Leupold sells the excellent VXR 1.5-5x33mm FireDot scope for $599. I might eventually get the Leupold, just wish they would offer the TMR or SPR reticle like I have on my Mark AR 1.5-4x. For now I am going to try an EoTech XPS3-2 on my Ultimak railed Mini. The dash 2 has the conventional 1 MOA dot surrounded by a 65 MOA ring, with the addition of another 1 MOA dot below the first for a longer range sighting point.

Went to Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday to look at some optics for the Ultimak railed Mini. They had a Nikon 2.5-8x extended eye relief. I really wanted to like it, clear, light, good power range and BDC reticle. The downer was, at 2.5x, up to maybe 4.5 or 5 x the eye relief was good, (almost too much though), but above that there was not enough eye relief. At the higher powers, only 9 inches of eye relief. Couldn't really see though it at all at the higher powers where it would be mounted on a forward scout position. Also compared an Aimpoint Pro (Patrol Rifle Optic) and an EOTech EXPS. The reticle on the EOTech was a bit "fuzzy", controls were "busy" (lots of little buttons) and almost 1/100th the battery life compared to the Aimpoint. So I ended up going for the Aimpoint Patrol, nice to know you can leave it on for months, even years and it will be there when you need it. Of course I will do like most people and change the battery out every year, like on your birthday or New Years day, etc. just to be safe.

Bluzman, nice rig. A 2-7x is just about all that is needed on a Mini. Anything bigger and it looks out of place on the little Mini, and the weight throws off the balance. I have seen a few guys put a 4-16x on theirs, just doesn't look right. Good thing your scope is mounted so dang high or you'd have to remove your Tech sight.
