suggestions for a mini-30 rail mount and optic?
 

Just wondering what scpoe-ring mounted tactical rail would work best on me mini?

Most use Amegaranges or Ultimak both work well and allow for cowitness shots. The shotgun or pistol scope are popular with this set up.

I was hoping for a rail mounted to the factory scope rings....just hate my optic mounted all the way up on the gas-system/barrel. Are there any good options? And what on earth is a cowitness shot?

Alternative: if you are planning to use a 1" or 30mm tube optic. Use Warne QD Rings mounted directly to Ruger Scallop mounts. Take on and off quickly without tools or losing the zero for the optic. Don't have to buy a rail. Decent rail is ~$50. If you but a cheap rail you will end up throwing it away and buying a good one later. Better to skip the rail I think, unless you are using an optic that will not mount with two rings, such as some types of red dot optics with an integral mount. Personally I think the best red dot for a mini is the Aimpoint 9000sc mounted on Warne 14RML QD rings.

The scout sight is working better than I expected. It is a 2.5X pistol scope on an Amega rail. It keeps the receiver free for field stripping. Also seems to stabilize the barrel. The scope mounts extremely low. I plan on trying a red dot also.

I'm gonna side with myname here. Warne QD rings would allow use of irons and bolt removal. Sure, they're a bit pricey, but when you factor in the price of a decent rail (Warne or GG&G) and a decent set of rings (Warne), you've more than covered the cost of the Ruger-specific Warne Maximas.

Cowitness is the ability to use the iron sites and a scope, some rails like the ones mentioned have a channel cut thru the mount for viewing irons and scope over the channel.

Anyone have this set-up? It sure looks like something that might suit me...kinda spendy tho...would love to know what you "experts" think....and remember, like my Ag/Ed teacher used to say...an ex is a has-been and a spert is a drip under pressure. Don't know where the hell THAT came from....apologies...
