If you like the wood stocks, find a used factory birch stock on eBay (or maybe from one of the guys here), sand it down to the bare wood, and choose your own finish. Birch is pretty unpredictable, so use a pre-stain on it first. Every stock ends up looking very unique...you'll have one that doesn't look like anyone else's...

Thanks. I will look into that. Hell, maybe someone really wants that Butler Creek and it will be a win-win for both parties.

Well, my Hogue overmolded stock arrived today. Went immediately and opened it and put it on. It is a little grippier than I had anticipated, but not thinking that is a bad thing. It was a cinch to switch out. It is a bit longer than the wooden stock and feels more comfortable, but still "carbine like." Will let everyone know as soon as I shoot it.

I think I might go with the factory Ruger piece. I like the look of the aftermarket ones people have posted links to but I want one I dull-up a bit and not feel like I'm killing something.

The Hogue wasn't expensive for me, and other than the better length of pull, I like the fact that I don't have to worry about marking up a nice wooden stock.
