Stock recommendation
I've grown a little tired of the Butler Creek folder on my mini-14. I would like some recommendations for good stock. I'm open to most any idea.

I use a Ramline composite and it has been a really good stock. Nice tight fit.

Thanks guys. I was leaning toward a Hogue, similar to the Ram. I'm not that happy with the pistol grip either.
My mini is 30 or so. 182 Series. |

I'd go with the Ramline also, the Houge is much harder to bed should you want to do so. Nothing wrong with the stock wood stock either. Some seem to get the best accuray with them, and they are really easy to bed. Wood stocks hold the bedding much better than the synthetic stocks do.
I don't care for the stickyness of the Houge either. Should you shoot benchrest, they don't allow the rifle to recoil backwards. That ramline is a nice looking stock. As to the ATI, I lost accuracy when I went to the ATI from my wood stock, I bedded the action and gas block, but it still has not shot as well as my wood stock did. My wood stock went to a stock maker who wanted to make Mini stocks and have on that was well bedded to copy, it's been gone a long time. I'll be glad to get it back. I loaned ny Mini to Ken Farrel so he could make a good mount that did not depend on the scallops in the Mini for ring or rail location, I got it back pretty fast along with one of the new rails he is producing. A little on the expensive side and requires gunsmith installation, but worth every dime if you lke having the best on your mini. No more worries about badly cut scallops wrecking my scopes and the scope alignment to the bore is perfect. John K |
I was considering the wood stock from Ruger. I assume since it didn't mention it, it would be fine for post-180 series.

Stocky's Stocks has a nice laminated wood stock available in 9 colors called the "Explorer" that is made to fit the Mini-14. It also comes in solid walnut material if you like. While I don't have one for my Mini, I have similar ones on my 10/22 and my Savage 116. Both were perfect drop-in fits that required no modifications. Stocky's are good people to deal with. Very knowledgable.

Thanks. That walnut is looking good to me.
