Ok, what three numbers determine the series on the mini 14? I think mine is a 580 series but I'm not sure. Thanks. __________________ Darrel

The first three. Yours is a 580, mine is a 182.

The first three numbers denote the series. With those three you can also find year of production and barrel twist rate, or you can just measure the twist rate.

That means that you have one of the newer "ranch rifle" mini-14s. They are supposed to be more accurate than the older minis (I have a 183 series in stainless my self that I do so like and is plenty accurate for me). They have a smaller foot-print rear site and have been re-tooled in other minor ways.
Congrats on the mini, you have fun now. |

Hey Angry, check out this new rear adjustable sight that just came out earlier this year. Much better than the factory offering on the 580's.

Thanks for the suggestion, but those won't work with my stock. __________________ Darrel
