steve4102, In response to your comment about the way a bedded rifle (action & barrel) shoots vs. a non- bedded one, I think the answer is that the bedded one has more even support thru out the entire action/barrel assembly thereby reducing the vibration and whip when fires. Something I would like to see,is, some of you shooters who are getting 5th round flyer's, try loading 7 rounds and see if you are getting any 7th round flyer's?? Just a suggestion!!

I agree, but your previous comment.

After several conversations with my co-worker, neither of us can make a connection, since when the 5th round (or any other round) is chambered, it is no longer in physical contact with the magazine
makes me think you are under the impression that once a round is chambered any outside influence is null and void.

I got out and shot the challenge today with all 3 minis and only beat it with my target mini came close with my 6.8 mini and my Promag 20 rnd mags but I ran out of ammo. It's hard for me to get the best groups during the summer heat but it is an excuse to shoot! It did take 2 groups for my target mini to get it but I did not have any luck with my 196 using the same mags as the target model, next time I will stick with the factory 5 and see.

I shot 55 gr Nosler with 21.5 gr RL7 col 2.255 and Promag 20.
Mini 6.8 was shot with 110 Vmax 25.2 gr H4198 and Promag 20, the Promag 6.8 did give a feed hang up a couple times, I have not broke them in yet.
I let my son blast a tannerite target with my 196 mini on top of an anti-freeze jug, it was awesome and he blast several water bottles too! I shot another good target with my target model but we shredded the paper with a tannerite explosion that was set on a plywood board and it sent wood chips into the paper, very cool!

Anybody know how to download a picture from an IPad?

Maybe, but I have my doubts. The "first round" flier is a well known issue with many a mini. Many mini shooters dump the first round off target then continue on shooting for groups. Others will load the first round into the chamber and let the action slam shut with no mag, then insert the mag.

BTW, great shooting!

first, it sounds like you had a great time shooting.....makes me want to go shooting with you for sure! punching paper is fun & useful, but exploding targets, bottles, and fruit is just plain AWESOME.

second, can't help you with an ipad, as i am a techno-phobe, but i am looking forward to seeing your targets.

I will have to get the other one posted later, I forgot to get it after it was shredded some by tannerite.
