I got the flash hider off with ease but putting the new brake on is another story. When I twist it on it doesn't line up right. It came with a washer but either way the brake is cock eyed when I tighten it down. Should I use lock tight or am I missing something?
I believe those are crush washers. You need to find the one that gets the center of your brake at about the 10 o'clock position and then use a good wrench to really cinch it down and center it. The washer is made to be crushed between the brake and front of the barrel.
Look up a YouTube video on installing a muzzle brake. There are a couple of good ones that show this process. You really need a good vise but you could also put the gun down on a surface and use some clamps to hold it down.
Three old hunters were walking through the woods one day. The first looks over at the others and says, "Windy isn't it?" The second says, "I was sure it was Thursday." The third says, "Me too! The heck with hunting, let's go get a beer!"
I was just looking at barrel shim kits. I think that may be the way to go since the Mini 14 does not have the same collar on the barrel that the AR's have. But I don't know so it looks like more research is a head of me.
